Paul Walters retired as the Regional Vice President, Southeast Asia, of The Boeing Company in May 2008.  That means he oversaw Boeing's activities in Malaysia, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, leading Boeing's globalization process in Southeast Asia. Prior to this, he was Vice President for Asia of Boeing Space Systems International Service Company, the international marketing arm of Boeing Satellite Systems and a subsidiary of The Boeing Company, based in Kuala Lumpur.  

Walters joined the Government Investment Management Corporation in 1995 as Managing Director for Asia, moving to Hughes Electronics International Corporation in 1996 as Regional Director Southeast Asia for Telecommunications Business Development. Boeing purchased Hughes Space and Communications in October 2000.  

Paul's international experience began when he entered the Peace Corps in Malaysia, and then the U.S. Agency for International Development in Vietnam. This led to a career in the U.S. Foreign Service that spanned senior commercial and economic assignments in U.S. Embassies in Kenya, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and Indonesia, and as an International Economist in the U.S. State Department.

Walters graduated with a BS in Business Administration from the Ohio State University in 1966. In 2003, he was honored with the Outstanding International Alumni Award from The Fisher School of Business at Ohio State. In January 2004, Walters received the D.S.D.K. (Dato’ Setia DiRaja Kedah) award from The Sultan of Kedah. That award carries the honorary title of “Dato’”. In 1979, he graduated from an Advanced Course in Economics for the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Institute.

Paul was born June 16, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio and now divides his time between Honolulu and Kuala Lumpur.
